ITRI-Rosenfeld postdoctoral fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Peter Alstone is an ITRI-Rosenfeld postdoctoral fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and focuses his research on the intersection of information technology and clean energy systems beyond the margins of the electric power grid. He has a history of work supporting household-scale solar, starting with the Lumina Project in 2008, which focused on understanding the emerging market for pico-solar. Since 2009 Peter has been a core contributor to the World Bank Group’s Lighting Global project, helping found and scale up the Quality Assurance program. His work has included support for and partnerships with the International Electrotechnical Commission, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Sustainable Energy for All, GOGLA, and a range of private-sector organizations. He recently completed a PhD at the University of California, Berkeley in Energy and Resources where he focused on the emerging pay-as-you-go sector in the off-grid solar market.
