PhD student at the University of Edinburgh
Declan is a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh. Under the umbrella of ‘International Development’ his research explores issues around the breakdown of solar technologies. He is specifically focused on opportunities for repair and recycling in the off-grid market in Kenya.
Beginning life as a historian, taking a Bachelor’s degree in the subject from the University of Cambridge, Declan worked for BBOXX in Kenya and Uganda before starting his PhD in the autumn of 2014. Alongside solar Declan is also interested in the mapping and visualisation of social science research.
