United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) – United Nations Development Programme
Thursday 29th October 09:00 – 10:30 (Conference Room – Dubai D)
The objective of the proposed session is to call the audience to focus on opportunities to transition to modern light within a “Clean and safe household energy” context. The speakers will present substantial and persuasive evidence of the compelling needs for modern lighting which implies implementation of sound policy mechanisms to create a level playing field in the market. The featured presentations will show that it takes Policy strategies to improve indoor air pollution, reduce health and safety impacts, Policy strategies to reduce kerosene subsidies and Policy strategies to increase job creation from new clean and safe technologies.
The audience will be invited to contribute to the new collaborative effort UNEP and UNDP are formalizing, within the frame of the SE4LL High Impact Opportunity, to move further with implementation of sound solutions.
