Engr. Abayomi Adebisi

Registered Engineer and member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers

Engr. Abayomi Adebisi graduated in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from The Polytechnic, Ibadan and Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu. He is a Registered Engineer and member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers.

He is a seasoned Power Engineer with over 30 years experience and was a Principal Manager with the National Electric Power Authority overseeing rural electrification programmes in the South East and South West of Nigeria.

He thereafter joined the Federal Ministry of Power and rose to become the Director in charge of the Electrical Inspectorate Services Department where he is responsible for the statutory inspection and certification of all electrical installations including renewable energy in the country.

Engr. Adebisi is presently the pioneer Director, Renewable and Rural Power Access Department in the Federal Ministry of Power. He is responsible for the formulation and development of policies on renewable energy and rural power access to facilitate the provision of electricity to the largely agrarian rural populace which constitute about 70% of the 170 million people in Nigeria.

In order to encourage the participation of the private sector, feasibility studies of solar, wind, biomass and small and medium hydropower projects and the development of sound technical and financial models which ensures good returns on investment, are being developed.

He is the National Focal Point of ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and Member of the Advisory Board of Council for Renewable Energy of Nigeria among other positions held.
